She emphasised that under PM Modi’s leadership, the nation’s perspective towards farmers has evolved, and they are no longer seen merely as recipients of aid, but as the true foundation of India’s self-reliance, food security, and prosperity.
“This is why today, the growing confidence of the farmer, new possibilities in agriculture, and rising hope in rural India are giving new strength to the resolve for a developed India,” Gupta stated.
She remarked that the prosperity of the country’s farmers is the hallmark of a strong nation and that under PM Modi’s leadership, the “seed-to-market” approach over the past 12 years has made the agricultural sector self-reliant.
Schemes like PM Kisan Samman Nidhi, the Crop Insurance Scheme, and the Soil Health Card have made farmers financially secure and empowered, Gupta said, adding that the contribution of the hardworking annadatas to the nation’s progress is unparalleled.
Recently, the Delhi government has also provided relief to local farmers through several initiatives, most importantly by raising crop loss compensation to Rs 75,000 per hectare for damage caused by unseasonal rains and waterlogging.
The Delhi government has launched several other initiatives for farmers, while additional central schemes will also be extended to them.
