Hours after calling Prime Minister Narendra Modi a “guide of society” and wishing him on completing 12 years in office, TMC MP from Asansol, Shatrughan Sinha on Thursday clarified that he will continue to stand with party supremo Mamata Banerjee even as reports claimed that he is among the 19 rebel MPs who have expressed their intention to support the BJP-led NDA.
Dismissing the reports, Sinha said that he stabds with Mamata Banerjee and Trinamool Congress and as of now, has no intention to change sides.

His remarks came amid a rebellion in the TMC by a group of MPs, led by Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar. The rebel faction claims to have the support of 19 MPs, including some of the closest aides of Mamata Banerjee, including Jadavpur MP Sayani Ghosh.
Sinha’s name was also included in the list of the rebels but his clarification pledging support to Mamata has come as a big sigh of relief for the TMC supremo.
The Asansol MP said that Mamata stood by him during his difficult times and therefore it is his duty to stand with her while she faces the rebellion by some of her most-trusted lieutenants.
Interestingly, his remarks came hours after he wished Prime Minister Narendra Modi for becoming the longest serving elected PM of India.
“In true sportsman spirit, wishing our friend & guide of society/nation hon’ble PM @narendramodi best wishes on completing 12 years in office, perhaps the longest tenure, ever. Wish you a long, healthy & prosperous life ahead. Jai Hind!,” the TMC MP said on X.
He also tagged TMC chief Mamata Banerjee, and AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal in the post.
The post was seen by many as a signal that he has indeed sided with the rebel camp, until his clarification cleared the air.
