The much-awaited New Delhi YMCA Carnival 2024 commenced on Sunday morning amid jubilation and camaraderie at the association campus on Jai Singh Road.
This year’s theme of the carnival “GIRL CHILD IN PARTICULAR” underscored the commitment to the noble cause of ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao,’ reflecting the collective aspiration of positive societal change.
The inaugural ceremony was graced by the Union Minister of State for External Affairs and Cultures, Meenakshi Lekhi.

In her address, the minister reminisced about her profound association with the city and the YMCA, expressing her heartfelt compliment for the event. She eloquently highlighted the significance of empowering daughters, emphasising the pivotal role they play in fostering unity, values, and societal progress.
Lauding the steps taken by the government in the last nine and half years, Lekhi said, “It is only due to Prime Minister Modi’s classification of four castes – Poor, Farmer, youth and Woman – that revolutionary changes could be brought in the country.”
Taking to the social media platform X, Lekhi wrote, “Pleased to interact with the younger ones today. Our resolve of a Viksit Bharat is being powered by empowering the youth. The last decade has seen steadfast commitment towards youth-leddevelopment. With 7 IITs, 7 IIMs, 16 IIITs, and 15 AIIMS, we are unleashing the power of Yuva Shakti!”
Elaborating on the objectives of the carnival Rajeev Singh, General Secretary & CEO of YMCA said all the funds raised through the Carnival are directed towards the education of these girls, covering tuition fees, uniforms, stationery, and other educational necessities. This commitment ensures that every girl has access to quality education and the resources needed to thrive academically.
In the carnival’s vibrant atmosphere, visitors seized the opportunity to capture the cherished moments of the festive spirit. The stalls at the carnival beckoned exploration, while interactions with artists from diverse backgrounds added to the cultural richness of the festivities.
