A 32-year-old married woman was allegedly raped by a youth Biju Janata Dal (BJD) activist at the ruling party’s block office in Dasarathpur here. The alleged accused, Chandrakanta Mohapatra, raped the woman after calling her to the party office on the pretext of providing her with a house under the Biju Pucca Ghar Yojana.

The ruling BJD here has dubbed it as a conspiracy by political opponents. Though the incident reportedly took place on 11 January at 9 p.m, it came to the fore after the victim filed an FIR with Mangalpur police station today.

Basing on the reports, police registered a case under section 342, 294 and 376 of Indian Penal Code against the accused. According to the complaint, Chandrakant Mohapatra who happens the brother of BJD leader and Jajpur district unit BJD president, Saroj Mohapatra, called the victim over mobile phone to come to the party office at Dasarathapur for completion of some formalities in order to avail a house under the Biju Pucca Ghar scheme on Thursday night at about 8.15 p.m. “When I reached the BJD party office, Chandrakant called me into the office.
