The man who allegedly molested a US tourist in Goa has been arrested by the police. According to reports, a 44-year-old resident of Anjuna has been arrested for the alleged crime.

The tourist from Manchester, Connecticut, wrote about her horrific ordeal in a social media post which went viral.

She had alleged that the suspect had misbehaved with her during a motorcycle taxi for a ride from Arpora village in North Goa to Morjim beach village.

“He picked me up post-dinner, and when we were making our way back to my hotel in Morjim that he started misbehaving. He asked me if I would give him a kiss and obviously, I said no. I tried to keep it light and suggested he ‘keep it professional’,” the tourist, who is in her 20s, wrote.

“I noticed that he kept taking turns into lanes that weren’t on our route and he kept saying that they were shortcuts, but it had already been 40 minutes on his bike,” the Facebook post said.

“Police then asked the woman to file a formal complaint of molestation with Pernem police station as she was staying in a hotel at Morjim village,” said North Goa SP Chandan Chaudhury.

The man has been handed over to the Pernem police station for further action.

The police is conducting a parallel investigation on the basis of the woman’s Facebook post.
