The main accused, Sikandar alias ‘Chhotu’, along with his accomplice Mukesh, was arrested soon after the theft. During the arrest, Sikandar swallowed the stolen silver bracelet in an attempt to destroy evidence. Acting on medical advice, he was admitted to the district hospital, where doctors recovered the bracelet from his body through stool on April 2 through medication.
Police said two stolen motorcycles, including a Bullet and a Splendor, were also recovered from the accused. Additionally, 35 grams of illicit smack, valued at around Rs 3.5 lakh in the international market, was seized from Sikandar.
During interrogation, both accused confessed to stealing motorcycles and selling them for profit. Investigators also found that Sikandar is a habitual offender with around 18 criminal cases registered against him. He was released on bail on March 29 in an arms case, just days before committing the latest theft.
Mukesh, the second accused, also has a prior criminal record and met Sikandar in jail in 2023. Police said the two joined hands after their release and carried out multiple thefts, including stealing a motorcycle in February, before the latest incident.
Officials confirmed that legal action is being taken against both accused under relevant sections of law, and they have been produced before the court.
