UP: Man kills girlfriend, disposes body parts after dispute

A man has been arrested by Uttar Pradesh Police for allegedly murdering his girlfriend and disposing of her body parts at multiple locations, following a major dispute over her interaction with another person.

Officials informed on Monday that Jaunpur Police managed to solve the case within 14 hours of the recovery of the body, IANS reported.

“On July 5, 2026, at around 7:30 a.m., the body of an unidentified woman was found near the Ranipur Bypass. To identify the deceased and solve the case, the Senior Superintendent of Police constituted a joint team comprising the Surveillance Cell and Mariyahu Police Station,” Circle Officer Vijay Chaudhary said.

“Within 14 hours, the team successfully solved the case and, following a police encounter, arrested the accused, a resident of Bhavnagar, Gujarat, who was currently living in Mariahu town. He sustained a bullet injury to his leg during the encounter and has been sent to the hospital for treatment,” he added.

After accused was taken into custody after police analysed surveillance inputs and CCTV footage.

Officials noted that the man took the extreme step after he got upset by the victim’s alleged chats and phone calls with another person.

Further investigation in the matter is currently underway.
