Right before the admission process begins, Calcutta University (CU) has decided to use software to identify the intake capacity of the colleges in both honours and general courses.

This year onwards, the registration process will be online as the university sources are claiming where the colleges will put every detail of the students so that the university stays aware of each student.

After various complaints of money laundering cases during admission in various colleges, the university this year has decided to go the entire admission process online where the students can apply, submit challan through online. They do not go to college before the class commence. CU is conducting a workshop with the principals of the colleges to elaborate on the new admission process.

The software will be used to restrict excess students to take admissions. The varsity has recently communicated to every college to brief about the intake capacity in general courses and honours courses.

The admission process in the CU will begin in June and the classes will start from early July as the university sources said.

“Last year, many vacant seats were left in various colleges which affected the evaluation of NAAC for those colleges and eventually they ended up getting poor ranks by NAAC. This hampers the image of the university as well. So, this year onwards the university will take care of the intake capacity of the colleges beforehand,” said a university official.
