2 nabbed for extortion, promise for govt job
Two individuals were arrested on charges of extortion for promising jobs in the state food and supplies department.
The South 24 Parganas district police with Howrah city police busted an illegal firearms factory at Domjur, Howrah today and recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunitions.
Howrah district police sources said, in a joint operation group comprising officers of South 24 Parganas district detective department, three persons were arrested in connection with smuggling of firearms.
In a raid with the Howrah district police, the joint police force unearthed an illegal firearms factory at Begri village from Raipur under Domjur police station Howrah.

A huge cache of arms and ammunition ranging from 7mm and nine mm pistols,30 magazines were seized.
According to senior officials of the District police commissionerate the factory which was being operated for quite some time now in the garb of a led factory, was located at a secluded area and would remain covered with plastic sheets and clothes.
A senior district police officer said, preliminary investigatios revealed that experts from Munger used to frequent the area to manufacture arms.
