Haryana to produce electricity, compost, biogas from waste

Electricity, compost and biogas will be produced from waste under one roof at the Solid Waste Management plant being set up in Sonipat cluster. An official spokesperson from Haryana Urban Local Bodies Department, on Thursday said that the Solid Waste Management would help dispose 650 tonnes of waste coming every day from Sonipat and Panipat.

A delegation led by Urban Local Bodies Kavita Jain had visited Solid Waste Management Plant of JBM group in Warsaw, capital of Poland, on Wednesday evening.

Executive Director of the Group, Nishant Arya, and plant operators apprised her about the process of making electricity, fertilizers and biogas under one roof at the plant.

According to the official information, the plant would be set up at a cost of Rs 176 Crore in Sonipat cluster comprising Sonipat, Panipat, Samalkha and Ganaur towns. Garbage would be collected from houses and transported to the plant.

Electricity from 650 tonnes of garbage per day will be produced in Sonipat cluster. The urban areas of Haryana have been divided into 15 clusters to solve the growing problem of garbage. Like Sonipat, the pace of work for Gurugram-Faridabad cluster plant is being accelerated.
