Fraudsters seem to find it easy to dupe the unemployed youth by promising jobs and posing as recruitment consultants of major companies, including banks and central undertakings here.
Police have failed to nab the culprits despite several complaints. The latest to be cheated is Sudeep Kumar Das of Bagshai under Raghunathpur police limits.

He got a phone call from a person claiming to work for a Delhi-based Global Recruitment Consultancy who spoke of vacancies at HDFC Bank in Bhubaneswar.

Das uploaded his resume online for getting job in the said bank and took an online test. He was subsequently informed of his selection and asked to register himself with the consultancy.
Then he was asked to deposit money towards registration, documentation, security fees etc. Having complied with all this he was informed that he would be sent for three months’ training in Kolkata for which further money was to be deposited.
Das contacted the concerned consultant for giving detailed address to undergo training in Kolkata after seven days but the cell phone number of the said consultant has been switched off till date.
The family became worried and it dawned on them that they had been duped. Several people here allege that unemployed youths have fallen prey to such fake agencies and the police have failed to curb the menace by arresting them.
Sub-Divisional Police Officer, Raghunathpur, Mr Siba Charan Mallick, said: “Police have registered a case on the Das incident and the Consultancy agency is based in Gurgaon. Steps have been taken to track, verify the bank account number and telephone number.”
