Election dept woos college students to make voter cards

The HP Election department on Monday launched a drive to woo college students for preparing their photo voter cards and urged them to participate in the upcoming state assembly poll.

The district electoral officers have been directed to motivate college going students and other voters for making their voter cards besides creating an awareness about the value of their vote. Under the campaign, Joint Chief Electoral Officer Sonia Thakur on Monday visited the Government College, Sanjauli in Shimla district and urged the students to come forward in making voter cards and exercise their franchise in the coming assembly elections.

She also detailed out the process for preparing photo voter cards. She said the Chief Electoral Officer Pushpendra Rajput will take stock of the arrangements for the Vidhan Sabha elections with the district electoral officers through video conferencing on Tuesday.
