Samajwadi Party National President Akhilesh Yadav said that the BJP government in Uttar Pradesh would impose an “election surcharge” on electricity bills to cover up for the trickery of the 2027 assembly elections.
“People will be shocked when they see their electricity bills from June. In fact, the BJP’s commission on electricity bills has increased. The BJP government is cutting into the public’s pockets by increasing inflation. Inflation is already at its peak under the BJP government, yet it continues to increase. The public is already suffering from inflation, and the BJP government increases it every day,” Yadav said in a statement on Monday.

He said that the BJP is increasing the prices of diesel, petrol, electricity, and gas cylinders. The common people are helpless and distressed. There is a huge difference between the BJP’s words and actions. It promised to reduce inflation, but since coming to power, inflation has been increasing every day. The public is distressed by the BJP’s policies.
He alleged that the BJP makes policies favoring corporations. It takes money from the poor to increase the capitalists’ wealth, then takes commissions and donations from those capitalists. “The BJP is anti-poor and anti-farmer. Only when the people of the state oust the BJP and form a Samajwadi Party government in the 2027 assembly elections will we find relief from inflation,” the SP president stressed.
