One person was killed after a speeding car rammed into three people in the Vasant Kunj area near Ambience Mall on Saturday night, police said.

In a tragic incident, one person was killed and two others injured after being hit by a speeding Mercedes car near Ambience Mall in the Vasant Kunj area of Delhi.

According to Delhi Police, the incident took place at around 2.30 am on Sunday near the Ambience Mall when the speeding car crashed into a roadside pole where the victims were standing at an auto stand.

As per preliminary enquiry, the Mercedes G63 car lost balance due to a diversion and crashed into the pole.

In a statement, Police said that it received a PCR call regarding the accident at around 2.33 am. A PCR team swiftly reached the spot where they found the Mercedes G63 in accidental condition.

The three injured persons, who were employees of a restaurant at the Ambience Mall, were lying at spot.

They were rushed to a nearby hospital where doctors declared one of them brought dead. He has been identified as Rohit, a 23-year-old resident of Chamoli, Uttarakhand.

The accused driver, identified as 29-year-old Shivam, was reportedly returning home after attending a marriage. Following the accident, the police have detained him.

At the time of the incident, he was driving the vehicle along with his wife and elder brother. The car is registered in the name of Abhishek, who is a friend of Shivam.

Police said further necessary legal action is being taken as per the law.
