The Delhi Police have arrested a 37-year-old man for allegedly spray painting objectionable graffiti related to Khalistan.

A FIR against the graffiti was registered on January 26. The incident took place on the night of January 25 while other such incidents were also reported in the past, the police said.

The accused has been identified as Jasvinder alias Lucky, who is a resident of Tilak Nagar. He was asked to paint the graffiti against financial assistance of Rs 15000, offered by his friend Gagangdeep, who is based in the United States.

The objectionable graffiti was found on the wall of MCD Park in Tilak Nagar on January 26, which said “Delhi Banega Khalistan.”.

According to Deputy Commissioner of Police, (Dwarka) Ankit Singh in view of the gravity of the offence, teams of both Dwarka and West district police involved in the investigation.

The police teams scanned over a thousand CCTV camera footages, finally identifying a suspect.

Later, the route taken by the culprit was traced and the vehicle used was also identified.

The police team received an inputs about where the accused resided and also that he might paint more objectionable graffiti in other areas of the city.

During questioning, the accused admitted that he committed the crime and revealed about one of his accomplices Gagandeep, who allegedly asked him to paint the graffiti.

The police said linkages are being investigated and also the reason as to why and on whose behest Gagandeep asked Jasvinder to paint the graffiti is being verified.
