Dhankhar launches ‘The Unbecoming Identity’

Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar on Thursday said the redevelopment of Delhi’s biodiversity parks would transform the Yamuna riverfront into a world-class tourist destination, attracting lakhs of visitors daily.
“The riverfront will be the best in the world, and I have no doubt that once fully developed, it will become a centre of global attraction,” Dhankhar said.

During his visit to Yamuna Vatika and Baansera Park at Sarai Kale Khan, he applauded Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena’s efforts, calling them “game changing,” which have gifted “new lungs, new power” to the national capital.

He praised the project’s pace and described the park’s views as “enthralling, captivating and exhilarating,” saying they would draw large crowds from Delhi and beyond.
Baansera Park, which features India’s first bamboo-themed park, was one of the main highlights of the Vice President’s visit. The theme park was inaugurated by LG Saxena on August 9, 2022, and developed by the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) on the banks of the River Yamuna in Sarai Kale Khan.
From the entrance gate to boundary walls, sheds, and guard rooms, bamboo has been extensively used in the park’s construction. More than 30,000 bamboo plants, representing 25 species sourced from across India, have gone into creating this recreational space. A giant moon installation—set against the backdrop of Humayun’s Tomb—is among the park’s main attractions.
In January, LG Saxena also inaugurated sections of Yamuna Vatika, located opposite the Rajghat Power Plant. The restoration, led by the Delhi Development Authority (DDA), is part of a broader initiative to revive the Yamuna floodplains by improving their ecological health and visual appeal.
