Delhi Finance Minister Atishi, under the direction of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, has approved the release of the third installment of Rs 803.69 crore for the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD).

“This will ensure that MCD employees continue to receive their salaries on time,” the Delhi government said on Wednesday.

“Under the Kejriwal Government, funds allocated to MCD increased meteorically to reach 3 times of 2014-15 allocation; MCD funds increased to 2.5 times in just the past 5 years. The MCD allocated Rs 2642.47 crore in 2023-24 by the Kejriwal government, compared to Rs 854.5 crore in 2014-15. In addition to this, funds are provided under several heads to the MCD by the Delhi government,” the Delhi government said.

Sharing the information, Atishi said, “The decision to release the installment of Rs 803.69 crore by the Kejriwal Government will ensure timely payment of salaries and pensions to the employees of the MCD. In addition, sanitation workers, paramedical staff, doctors, etc, in the MCD will also receive their salaries on time. This decision will inspire and motivate them to provide better services to the general public. The decisions by the Kejriwal government will assist the MCD in delivering better services to the people of Delhi.”

She said the Delhi Chief Minister had promised that there would be no shortage of funds in the MCD.

“Along with this, salaries for all MCD employees will be paid on time, and attention will be given to the cleanliness of Delhi. In this series, he has allocated Rs 803.69 crore to the MCD as the third installment in this fiscal year,” Atishi said.

She mentioned that the Kejriwal government is working with utmost seriousness to make the national capital Delhi clean, beautiful, and modern.

“Previously, employees in the BJP-ruled MCD were not receiving their salaries on time, leading to forced strikes. As a result, employees and the people of Delhi had to face difficulties. However, with the funds released by the Kejriwal government, the MCD employees will now receive their salaries on time,” the Delhi finance minister said.

Atishi said, “Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is committed to providing the residents of Delhi with a clean and healthy environment. We believe that timely payment of salaries to MCD employees will motivate them to work hard to fulfill our commitment. In the BJP-led MCD, the interests of employees have always been neglected, and they were not paid for months.”

“Since the formation of the “AAP” Government in the MCD, the Kejriwal government’s guarantee to pay salaries to all employees on time is now being fulfilled. The allocation of funds for sanitation services is an important step towards achieving a clean and garbage-free environment in the city,” she said.
