In a latest development to the Unitech home buyers cheating case, the Patiala House Court on Thursday dismissed the bail plea of both promoters and sent them to judicial custody till April 20.

The court on April 3 had extended the police custody of Unitech Ltd promoters Ajay Chandra and Sanjay Chandra by three more days.

“Police custody of two Unitech promoters in alleged fraud case involving real estate project extended by three days,” reports stated on Monday.

Sanjay Chandra and Ajay Chandra were arrested by the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Delhi Police on Saturday for allegedly cheating home buyers.

The court had on April 1 sent both the accused to two-day police custody after the probe agency said their custodial interrogation was required to find out the alleged money trail, beneficiaries of the transactions and recovery of project related documents.

Home buyers alleged that Unitech did not complete the project on time and did not refund their money along with interest.

Nearly 90 people had invested Rs.35 crore in the project but never got their flats, according to reports.
