Delhi Congress President Devender Yadav has demanded a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the alleged ₹650 crore medical procurement scam involving the purchase of medicines and medical equipment for Delhi government hospitals.

Yadav alleged that the Anti-Corruption Branch is carrying out only symbolic action by arresting officials while shielding the major suppliers and key individuals allegedly involved in the scam. He said that despite the arrests of former DGHS chief Dr Vatsala Aggarwal and Accounts Deputy Controller Neeraj Chopra, those who allegedly manipulated the tender process and technical specifications to facilitate the fraud have not been held accountable.

He urged the Office of the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi to order a CBI investigation and make the names of the main accused public.

The Congress leader also alleged that despite announcements by Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, the deteriorating condition of the city’s healthcare system continues to be ignored. He claimed that government hospitals are facing severe shortages of medicines, medical equipment, doctors, and nursing staff, causing hardship for poor patients.

Yadav further alleged that the government has failed to take concrete action on several CAG reports over the past one-and-a-half years concerning health, education, the excise policy, and other matters. He also accused the Central Procurement Agency (CPA) of irregularities, alleging that the centralised procurement system was misused to purchase medical supplies at prices higher than market rates, leading to deeper corruption in Delhi’s healthcare sector.
