A new bus service and an awareness campaign aiming to improve the child sex ratio marked the Utkal Divas celebrations here on Sunday. The district administration with support of local organisations organised different colourful programmes like folk dance, music, rally, painting for promoting awareness of the project Kalpana which was implemented from Sunday.
The administration implemented project Kalpana to enhance sex ratio in favour of girl child. In Dhenkanal district girl child ratio has dropped to 870 against 1000 male child.
Earlier Transport and Commerce Minister, Mr Nrusingha Sahu garlanded the statue of Madhusudan Das, B R Ambedkar.He flagged off a new government bus service from Dhenkanal to Bhubaneswar via Khuntani, Chowdwar and Barang.

“This was a long pending demand of the people,” he said. Odisha Seeds Corporation chairman Yogendranath Tripathy, Dhenkanal MLA and District Planning committee Chairman Saroj Kumar Samal and RTO Basant Kumar Behera were also present.
In the evening a public meeting was held and Sahu addressed the gathering talking about development and achievements of the BJD government.
