A 5-year old was critically injured in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama district in stone pelting at vehicles following the shutdown call by the separatists, police said.

“A minor boy was seriously injured after miscreants pelted stones on vehicles near Pahoo Bridge in Pulwama,” a police officer said, adding some people had blocked the Pulwama-Srinagar road there amid the shutdown call.

“The miscreants pelted stones on private as well as commercial vehicles plying on the road in which one minor, identified as Sifti Hyder, son of Reyaz Ahmad Malik of Gangoo Pulwama, about five years old was seriously injured after he was hit by a stone on his head.

“The injured boy was shifted to District Hospital Pulwama for treatment where from he was referred to SMHS Hospital Srinagar in critical condition for further treatment,” the officer said.

A police party rushed to the spot and chased away the stone pelters.
