AAP to raise teachers’ issues in Parliament, Assembly

AamAadmi Party (AAP) on Sunday came out in support of Sarv Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA), Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA) and Computer teachers and announced to raise the issue in upcoming Assembly session in Punjab and an ongoing session of parliament.

In a joint statement, AAP state president, Bhagwant Mann, Leader of opposition Party (LoP) Sukhpal Singh Khaira accused the state government of not listening to the demands of teacher fraternity.

The leaders said that the representatives of the different teachers unions submitted memorandum to the party and it came to the light that how the state government is harassing them. AAP leaders claimed the state government is planning to cut short their salary to 70 per cent to 80 per cent. They said, the move has left the teachers red faced and it will also affect the students in long run.

Bhagwant Mann said that on the lines of previous ShiromaniAkali Dal (SAD) and BhartiyaJanta Party (BJP) government, the present Congress government is destroying the education system in the state.

The AAP leader said he will raise the issue in ongoing session of Parliement. He said that he will request the lower house speaker to ask Punjab government to implement Delhi model of school education in the state.
