‘1100 Aadhaar Enrolment, Updataion Centre’s in post offices across state’

Around 1100 Aadhaar Enrolment and Updataion Centre’s will be opened in the post offices under West Bengal Postal Circle, announced Chief Post Master General (CPMG) of West Bengal Postal Circle, Arundhaty Ghosh at Asansol on Wednesday.

Speaking during the launch of the second Aadhaar enrolment and Updataion centre at Asansol Head Post office she said, “India Posts in technical collaboration with Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) of the Centre has been setting up these centres in post offices throughout the country.” “With the usage of Aadhaar becoming crucial for our day to day existence, it will be immensely helpful for the common people to get these facilities cloe to their homes.

“ Phase by phase about 51 Aadhaar enrolment and Updataion centres will be opened in 51 sub post offices under Asansol Postal Circle,” she added. “The government of India has allocated funds worth Rs 200 crores to set up Aadhaar Enrolment and Updataion centres in post offices throughout the country, ”said union minister of state for heavy industries and public sector enterprises Babul Supriyo after inaugurating the centre.

He said till on Wednesday around 1181 Aadhaar Enrolment and Updataion Centres have been set up in Post Offices around the country and out of which two are in West Bengal- Kolkata and Asansol. “Earlier the central government has also set up Post Office Pass Port Seva Kendras (POPSK) and the first has been inaugurated last year in Asansol, which has been my lok sabha constituency.

“I am trying to do the work for which the people of Asansol has voted for me by bridging the gap between Asansol and central government at New Delhi,” Mr Babul Supriyo said on Wednesday.
