The Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) has reported a significant expansion in social security coverage with the addition of 19.37 lakh new employees in June 2025, according to provisional payroll data released by the corporation.

As per the data, of the total 19.37 lakh employees added, 9.58 lakh workers, which is around 49.5%, belonged to the age group of up to 25 years, highlighting the growing participation of young people in the formal workforce.

This marks a steady increase compared to May 2025, when 9.46 lakh youth were registered, reflecting a growth of 12,136 enrolments.

Further, 34,762 new establishments were brought under the ambit of the Employees’ State Insurance (ESI) Scheme during the same month, ensuring wider access to social security benefits for workers across sectors.

The Corporation also gave the gender-wise analysis. It showed that 4.13 lakh women were newly registered in June 2025.

In a notable development, 87 transgender employees were also enrolled under the scheme during the month, underscoring ESIC’s commitment to inclusivity and extending benefits to every section of society.
