ESI Hospital
The state minister Molay Ghatak inaugurated some of the upgraded facilities at Serampore ESI hospital on Wednesday. The minister said in days to come a cath lab and a dialysis service will be started and he will take up the proposal for starting a medical college at Serampore ESI hospital.
The minister today inaugurated ICU, HDU, operation theater, modified kitchen, a conference-cum-IP interaction room on the day.
Serampore MLA Dr Sudipto Roy said, “I have put up a proposal for a medical college within the campus of Serampore ESI hospital. Minister Ghatak, the chairman of the regional board, will put up the proposal for consideration in the next regional board meeting.”

The state government and central government in a joint venture form the regional board to oversee progress and development of medical services in the ESI hospitals in the state.
The ESI hospital super, Abrojit Mukhopadhya, said, “ESI hospitals in the state ranks first in rendering medical facilities and for the last seven years, the central government has been providing incentives ranging from Rs 40 to 50 crore.”
