After the relatives, now a Bengali tele actress Devoleena Bhattacharjee has also urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi and external affairs minister S Jaishankar to intervene and help bring back the body of Suri dancer back to his native place in India and a proper investigation.

Amarnath Ghosh, a dancer of Suri in Birbhum, who used to stay in Kolkata was killed when he was fired upon from close range during his morning walk in the USA.

His uncle and aunt Shyamal Ghosh and Bharati Ghosh has lodged a written complaint at Suri police station. “We have received written complaints from the victim’s family. We are contacting the embassy to get details,” said Raj Narayan Mukherjee, SP of Birbhum.

In her X handle today, the television actress, Devoleena Bhattacharjee has urged the PM Narendra Modi and external affairs minister to help the family in getting back the body and also to probe so that the truth comes out.

“Amarnath Ghosh is my colleague and a very talented dancer and was doing pursuing his PhD,” she said.

Meanwhile, the Indian consulate in Chicago has said that the US police have started a probe. The consulate has contacted his aunty, who stays in New Delhi and has offered all support. Today, the consulate said that they have taken up the case strongly and have already conveyed it to the US authority.

Amarnath Ghosh, was a professional Indian dancer, who was pursuing his PhD in Missouri, USA. His family received a phone call from the USA on Thursday that he had been killed after a gunshot injury.
