Odisha: Man, his son killed in wall collapse
Two members of a family died in Odisha on Monday after a dilapidated wall collapsed and fell on them.
Two labourers were injured when a portion of an old building, they were demolishing at Baidyabati, Chowmatha adjacent to GT Road, collapsed. The labourers were trapped in the debris. Locals rushed to their rescue. They were rushed to a nearby health centre. The police carried out an on-spot investigation and detained three persons in the case.
The Baidyabati Municipality chairman Pintu Mahato said, “Investigation is being carried out to see if they possessed any valid permission to demolish the old building. Moreover, have they taken safety measures to carry on the demolition work? If any discrepancy is found, legal steps will be taken against the concerned contractor,” said Baidyabati municipal chairman.
