On Maha Sivaratri, thousands of devotees are on a visit to century-old Tarkeswar Shiva temple, strict security steps have been taken to control and regulate the movement of the massive crowd.

Devotees offered Ganges water within the garbha griha of the Shiva temple, offering prayers to seek blessings. On this occasion, the temple will be kept open the whole night. However, the devotees will not be provided with the usual daily bogh. Shivaratri will be observed till Saturday evening as per the auspicious timings. Safety measures have been taken around dudh pukur.

Hundreds of pilgrims from Baidyabati Nemai Tritha ghat collected Ganges water in pitchers, hung on a sling, rested on the shoulders, walking bare feet covering over 35km to reach Tarkeswar Shiva temple.
