The Meteorological Department today issued a three-day forecast warning for nine districts of South Bengal, cautioning against persistent cold wave conditions and dense fog that may reduce morning visibility to between 50 and 199 metres.

The Meteorological Department today issued a three-day forecast warning for nine districts of South Bengal, cautioning against persistent cold wave conditions and dense fog that may reduce morning visibility to between 50 and 199 metres.
The warning was issued at 1.30 p.m. by the Head of the Eastern Region at the Regional Meteorological Department’s Alipore headquarters in Kolkata. It stated that maximum daytime temperatures are likely to remain 3 to 5 degrees Celsius below normal for three days from Wednesday in North and South 24-Parganas, East and West Burdwan, Hooghly, Birbhum, Murshidabad and Nadia.

The notice added: “On Wednesday, cold day and cold wave conditions are very likely to occur at one or two places over Birbhum and East Burdwan.”
