Trinamul Congress leaders today alleged that the zamindari system of BJP has helped its leaders to create disturbances in Sandeshkhali and are deliberately maligning the state government.
Addressing the media, Dr Shashi Panja, said, “Some leaders are using derogatory, disgraceful remarks even against the only woman chief minister in the country. Everyone is watching this but they are so arrogant that they are not tendering any apology. They called an IPS officer Khalistani, but even their senior leaders are silent on the issue.”
Chandrima Bhattacharya, state finance minister and a lawyer, said, “We have respect for the high court and can take suo motu cognizance,” she said adding “Every time they say we will go to court and obtain an order. Anyone can go to court, but such a threat is unacceptable,” she said.

Mrs Bhattacharya said, “The political vendetta of the BJP is very clear. One after another, commissions are sent to Bengal. Why did they not visit Hathras, Unnao and Manipur where women were abused? The Prime Minister took 79 days to make a statement on Manipur. The commissions are biased,” She said.
Dr Panja said law and order is a state subject. “The state administration thought of promulgating Section 144 of CrPC in Sandeshkhali. Taking advantage of the HC order, leaders went there and used abusive languages to instigate people flouting the court order. We will take the matter to the people’s court as they are observing everything.”
She said the DGP has visited Sandeshkhali and an all-women police team has been set up that visits every household. “The state government did everything to restore peace in Sandeshkhali and they are there to disturb it. This is most unfortunate,” she said adding, “…there is a competition among the BJP leaders, who are badly hit by infighting, to reach Sandeshkhali before the other group. The state government will restore peace in the area,” she maintained.
