The Trinamul Congress candidate for Hooghly Lok Sabha constituency Rachna Banerjee today started her election campaign from Singur after offering prayers at Singur Dakat Kali. There was a massive gathering to have a glimpse of Didi No 1 of the TV reality show. The TMC Hooghly Lok Sabha candidate, answering media persons, said, “Even though my BJP opponent Locket Chatterjee is much senior and a matured politician, still I am confident of my victory.
The historic Singur andolan, led by Mamata Banerjee, brought TMC to power in the state. I have started my election campaign from Singur itself; I am confident of my victory with the love and support of the people of Hooghly constituency. The Hooghly constituency comprises seven Vidhan Sabha areas, Singur, Dhaniakhali, Chandannagar, Chinsurah, Saptagram, Pandua and Balagarh. Rachna added, even though Tata Motors left Singur, yet I found no dearth of factories and industries in Singur, while I was passing along the highway.
I found a lot of factories and industries along both sides of the highway, thick black columns of smoke rising from the chimneys. However, more and more industries will come to Singur in the days ahead. She is confident that the love and support of the people of her constituency will give her a thumping majority
