Heritage bookstore in College St set to open new outlet
Dasgupta, the well-known heritage bookstore in the city, is going to open its outlet in south Kolkata on 1 May.
The Bandel GRP arrested five hardcore criminals and recovered arms from their possession. The criminals who were identified as Bubai Shaw, Debasish Roy, SK Sahajahan, SK Jahangir and Subir Fulmali were arrested during a raid conducted on the basis of prior information at Bandel station.
They had gathered to commit robbery in a Burdwan bound train, sources said. The Bandel GRP have registered a case against the criminals under Sections 399/402 of IPC. The arrested persons were produced before CJM Chinsurah (sadar) Court in Hooghly. Recent months have seen a rise in the number of such train robbery attempts.
Moreover, rare and endangered species from other neighbouring states are being smuggled using the rail network. The Bandel GRP had recovered several endangered species from train compartments earlier.
