Asansol Division introduces QR code ID cards for catering vendors

Asansol Division of Eastern Railway has begun issuing QR code-based Identity Cards with an orange tag to all licensed catering vendors following the guidelines of the Railway Board. This step is aimed at curbing illegal vending, ensuring proper hygiene and providing passengers safe and reliable catering services at stations and on trains.

Each vendor ID card carries a unique QR code that can be scanned to instantly verify the vendor’s details including name, license holder, Aadhaar number, police verification status and medical fitness certificate. Only vendors who have successfully cleared police verification and medical fitness tests are permitted to serve passengers. Vendors are required to keep the QR code ID card with the orange tag clearly visible while on duty.

Passengers are advised to purchase food and other items only from vendors displaying the official QR code ID card with the orange tag and report any unauthorised vending to Railway authorities.
