On Tuesday, Pakistan appointed Lieutenant General Azhar Abbas, who was responsible for the security of the Line of Control (LoC) with India, as the next Chief of General Staff. On Monday, Chinese President Xi Jinping appointed General Wang Haijiang as the Commander of the Western Theatre Command of the People’s Liberation Army.
The Chief Minister, who would visit Nimati Ghat on Thursday for evaluating the situation, also directed Power Minister Bimal Bora to immediately visit the incident site to take stock of the situation. He asked his Principal Secretary, Samir Kumar Sinha to monitor the developments round-the-clock.
