The Mayor’s Office of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) received another bomb threat on Friday morning.

“Considering the seriousness of the incident, the Mayor’s Office immediately informed the security agencies and the Delhi Police, following which the security apparatus was activated and necessary action was initiated,” the MCD said in a statement.

“According to official information from the Mayor’s Office, an email from an unidentified source was received at 10:23 am today, threatening to carry out a bomb blast at 1:11 pm. Acting without delay, the Mayor’s Office informed the concerned, the Delhi Police and the security agencies concerned carried out a thorough and extensive search of the Mayor’s Office premises,” the statement said.

During the operation, every sensitive area of the office, including all entry and exit points and other critical locations, was carefully inspected. The security agencies conducted a meticulous examination of the entire premises and ensured that all prescribed, the office had also received bomb threats.

Treating these repeated threats as a matter of serious concern, the Mayor’s Office had earlier sent a formal letter to the Commissioner of Delhi Police, requesting a detailed investigation and the Delhi Police to ensure that all necessary security measures were put in place in time.

The Mayor’s Office clarified that this was not the first time such a threat had been received.

On three to four previous occasions, the office had also received bomb threats. Treating these repeated threats as a matter of serious concern, the Mayor’s Office had earlier sent a formal letter to the Commissioner of Delhi Police, requesting a detailed investigation into these incidents, the identification of those responsible, and strict and effective legal action against them.

“The Mayor’s Office stated that repeated threats targeting public institutions and offices associated with constitutional authorities are a matter of grave concern. It emphasised that those responsible must be identified at the earliest and dealt with firmly under the law to effectively deter such malicious and fear-inducing acts in the future,” the statement added.
