Congratulating all the departments, institutions and officials associated with the initiative, the Chief Minister expressed confidence that the library would inspire and empower Delhi’s youth by providing them with a strong foundation to realise their aspirations and achieve their dreams.

Speaking on the occasion, NDMC Chairman Keshav Chandra said the library has been dedicated to the inspiring legacy of Loknayak Jayaprakash Narayan, one of India’s foremost freedom fighters, a distinguished socialist thinker and a visionary leader.

He said that Jayaprakash Narayan’s philosophy of “Total Revolution” (Sampoorna Kranti) was not merely a call for political change but a comprehensive vision encompassing education, social awareness, moral values, public participation and nation-building.

“We believe that this library will serve as a powerful medium to carry forward these ideals and inspire society for generations to come,” he added.

The NDMC Chairman further said that the newly inaugurated library, spread across 2,265.30 square metres in a ground-plus-two-storey building, has a seating capacity of around 200 readers and houses a rich collection of more than 35,000 books, journals and reference publications covering a wide range of academic, research and general-interest subjects.

An e-library section with subscriptions to various online libraries has also been established, providing access to more than one crore e-books and catalogues, he added.

NDMC Vice Chairman Kuljeet Singh Chahal expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his visionary guidance and to Union Home Minister Amit Shah for dedicating the state-of-the-art public library to the people of the national capital.

He said the ultra-modern knowledge centre would serve as a beacon of learning, innovation and intellectual excellence for the youth, empowering them to contribute meaningfully towards the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.
