TP Western Odisha Distribution Limited (TPWODL) has launched a public awareness campaign urging consumers to play an active role in improving electrical safety and service accountability across its nine operational districts.

The power distribution company has appealed to its over two million consumers to report unsafe work practices and ensure that all electricity-related complaints are registered through its official customer care system instead of contacting field staff directly.

Complaints lodged through its toll-free helplines 1912 or 1800-2028 are assigned unique reference numbers, enabling better monitoring, transparency and timely resolution, informed TPWODL.

The utility also urged consumers to immediately report instances of employees or business associates carrying out electrical work without mandatory personal protective equipment (PPE), such as safety helmets, gloves, safety shoes, safety belts or approved ladders, as well as any other unsafe practices in the field.

TPWODL said the initiative is aimed at strengthening its safety culture and enabling prompt corrective action to minimise risks.

The company said it has been investing in improving safety standards through infrastructure upgrades, specialised training and technology-driven interventions. These include expansion of its fleet of manlifts for safer maintenance of overhead power lines, commissioning of a dedicated vertigo test structure for work-at-height training, and a Training of Trainers (ToT) programme on electrical safety conducted in collaboration with the Tata Power Skill Development Institute for employees across western Odisha.
