As the decisive ‘Gangstran Te Vaar’ campaign entered its 169th day on Wednesday, the Punjab Police conducted 705 raids at identified and mapped locations linked to gangster associates across the state.
According to official information, the ‘Gangstran Te Vaar’ campaign, a decisive initiative to make Punjab a gangster-free state, was launched by Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab, Gaurav Yadav, on January 20, 2026.

Police teams from all districts, in coordination with the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF), Punjab, have been conducting special operations across the state.
On Day 169 of the campaign, police teams arrested 423 individuals and recovered one weapon. With these arrests, the total number of persons apprehended since the launch of the campaign has risen to 45,686.
In addition, preventive action was taken against 374 persons. Police teams also arrested nine Proclaimed Offenders (POs) during the operation.
People can anonymously report information related to wanted criminals and gangsters as well as share tips about crime and criminal activities through the Anti-Gangster Helpline at 93946-93946.
Meanwhile, police teams continued their anti-drug campaign, ‘Yudh Nashian Virudh,’ for the 494th consecutive day.
During today’s operation, 85 drug smugglers were arrested, and the police recovered 1.3 kg of heroin, 790 grams of opium, 1.7 kg of poppy husk, 677 intoxicant pills, and Rs 1,800 in drug money from their possession.
With these arrests, the total number of drug smugglers apprehended during the 494-day campaign has reached 72,519.
As part of its de-addiction initiative, the Punjab Police also persuaded 24 individuals to undergo de-addiction and rehabilitation treatment today.
