Dwayne Johnson has shared a heartfelt message on depression after a moving encounter with a fan during one of his talks. The Hollywood star, currently preparing for the release of his upcoming film ‘Moana’, spoke about empathy and the importance of not judging others too quickly.

Johnson shared a video of the moment on social media. In the clip, he is seen speaking to an audience about the importance of simply trying. As he speaks, a man in the crowd is seen listening closely before breaking down in tears.

Later in the video, Johnson is seen talking directly with the man. The fan opens up and reveals that he has been battling depression.

Johnson’s message on empathy

Describing the moment in his caption, Johnson wrote that he asked the man directly if he was okay, calling him brother. He explained that while speaking to the audience about trying, he noticed the man begin to cry, and the two later spoke about his struggle with depression.

Johnson urged people to share in others’ pain, saying he has experienced all sides of it himself. He wrote that he has learned one universal fact in life, that everyone is going through something.

Also, he added that people should not be quick to judge or quick to assume things about others. He stressed importance of showing grace, saying empathy and kindness matter deeply. Johnson ended his message by telling the man to stay strong, reminding him that he is never alone.

About Moana, Johnson’s upcoming film

Johnson is currently gearing up for the release of Moana, a musical adventure film.

This new film marks third installment in the Moana franchise and first live-action entry in the series. It is directed by Thomas Kail, marking his feature directorial debut.

Johnson returns to play Maui, a role he previously voiced in the animated films. Joining him is Catherine Laga’aia, who takes on the title role of Moana in her first ever film appearance.

Moana is going to release in theatres on July 10, distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures.
