“Overwhelmed by all the messages. Thank you to everyone of my well-wishers and seniors for your constant love and support. I’m truly grateful for the opportunity to represent my country, and I’ll always try to give my best for my team every single time. Thank you for everything, everyone,” Sooryavanshi wrote.
The youngster created history on Saturday by becoming the youngest player to debut in men’s international cricket, surpassing the previous record held by Sachin Tendulkar. He also became younger than Shafali Verma was when she made her India debut, further underlining the magnitude of the milestone.
Although India suffered a four-wicket defeat to England in the second T20I, the match marked a landmark moment in Sooryavanshi’s rapidly rising career. The teenager earned his maiden senior cap after impressing in domestic cricket and age-group competitions, and his heartfelt message reflected both his gratitude and determination to make the most of future opportunities in the national colours.
In the match, England bounced back in style to level the series with a four-wicket victory, chasing down India’s 190/7 with an over to spare. Despite Arshdeep Singh striking twice in the opening over, Harry Brook’s blistering 39 off 15 balls swung the momentum before Jacob Bethell anchored the chase with an unbeaten 76 from 46 deliveries.
Tom Banton added a valuable 39, while a costly 29-run 17th over from Ravi Bishnoi, which included two no-balls resulting in free hits, proved decisive as England completed the chase with confidence.
