A viral social media video claiming that the NEET UG 2026 re-examination question paper was leaked on Telegram before the test has been declared fake by both the National Testing Agency (NTA) and the Centre.
The clarification comes a day after the nationwide re-examination was held. Authorities said the claims circulating online are false and urged students and parents not to rely on unverified information.

The Press Information Bureau’s fact-check unit flagged the video on Monday and said reports of a question paper leak before the examination were baseless.
According to the PIB Fact Check handle on X, a video circulating on social media falsely claimed that the NEET UG 2026 re-examination paper had been leaked on Telegram before the test. The unit said the claim was fake and cited the NTA’s position that allegations of a leak were unfounded.
The NTA also issued a statement rejecting the allegations. The agency said the re-examination was completed successfully on Sunday under extensive security and surveillance arrangements.
“NTA’s attention has been drawn to a fabricated video being circulated on social media regarding NEET (UG) 2026. The video is FAKE, and the claims it makes are false. The examination was conducted successfully today under comprehensive security and surveillance,” the agency said.
NTA warns against misinformation
The testing agency said creating and circulating misleading content intended to alarm or deceive students was a serious offence.
“Manufacturing and deliberately circulating such misinformation to defraud or alarm students is a serious offence. NTA, with the support of I4C and law enforcement agencies, is taking action against those responsible for originating this content,” the statement said.
The agency appealed to students, parents and the public to rely only on information published on the official NEET website and verified NTA social media accounts.
It added that more than 20 lakh aspirants deserved a fair and stress-free examination process.
Over 20 lakh candidates appeared for re-exam
The NEET UG 2026 re-examination was conducted on Sunday after the question paper had been leaked during the examination held last month.
According to the NTA, more than 20 lakh candidates appeared for the re-test at 5,440 centres across India and 14 centres overseas. The examination was conducted in 13 languages.
NTA Director General Abhishek Singh said the exercise concluded smoothly and that no complaints regarding a paper leak had been received so far.
“So far, we have not received any complaints regarding a question paper leak. NTA is working aggressively to ensure the integrity of the process. We are 100 per cent confident,” Singh told reporters.
He also said the evaluation process would begin soon and that results would be announced faster than usual. According to Singh, the agency compressed the entire examination cycle into 37 days.
