Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker have opened up about one of the most emotional chapters of their relationship, a pregnancy loss they experienced before becoming parents to their son, Rocky Thirteen.
The couple shared the painful memory in Travis Barker’s upcoming documentary, ‘Travis Barker: Louder Than Fear’, which premiered in New York on June 13. The film gives fans a closer look at the couple’s personal journey, including the challenges they faced while trying to grow their family.

Couple discovered pregnancy months after starting relationship
According to ‘People’ magazine, the documentary reveals that Kourtney and Travis found out they were expecting a baby girl about six months after they started dating in 2021.

The couple had already imagined a future with their daughter and even planned to name her Tulip. However, their happiness turned into heartbreak during a three-month pregnancy appointment when doctors informed them that the baby no longer had a heartbeat.
Remembering that difficult moment, Kourtney said in the documentary, “When we lost the baby, we were devastated,” adding that they “cried for days.”
The revelation gives a deeper understanding of the fertility struggles the couple has discussed publicly over the past few years.
Kourtney spoke about her IVF struggles
Before welcoming Rocky, Kourtney had been open about her experience with in vitro fertilisation (IVF). In May 2024, she answered fan questions on her Instagram Stories and spoke about emotional and physical challenges of undergoing multiple unsuccessful IVF attempts.
When a fan asked how she handled the process, Kourtney revealed that she stopped treatment after a year of trying. She shared that she went through five failed IVF cycles and three egg retrievals.
Also, she explained that after stopping IVF, she felt her body began to relax and said she trusted “God’s plan” for her life. She also mentioned focusing on her health and continuing to pray about what was meant to happen.
Rocky’s pregnancy happened naturally after IVF
Kourtney later cleared up confusion around her IVF comments and explained that her pregnancy with Rocky did not happen through treatment.
In a follow-up Instagram Story, she wrote that she became pregnant “100% naturally” and not through IVF. She said it happened one year after she stopped IVF, describing it as a blessing that came on Valentine’s Day.
The reality star also spoke about the experience during Season Four of ‘The Kardashians’. She revealed that she and Travis had stopped IVF around two months before their wedding and had accepted that having a baby might not happen.
Kourtney explained that they were no longer trying to conceive and she had even stopped tracking ovulation. After stepping away from the process, she said they decided to leave things in God’s hands.
Couple welcomed Rocky Thirteen in 2023
Kourtney and Travis eventually welcomed their son, Rocky Thirteen, in 2023 after years filled with emotional highs and lows.
Reflecting on becoming pregnant and having a child with Travis, Kourtney described the moment as something extraordinary. She said it felt like “a miracle” to be able to experience pregnancy and have a baby with the love of her life.
