Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has said the Yamuna is not merely a river but a cultural, religious and environmental heritage of Delhi.
Under the leadership of the Chief Minister, the Delhi government will organise the ‘Maa Yamuna Riverbank Cleanliness Drive’ across 28 ghats of the Yamuna river on Sunday.

Organised under the message ‘Ek Sankalp – Swachh Yamuna’ (One Resolve – Clean Yamuna), the campaign will be an important initiative towards restoring the Yamuna to its former glory, cleaning the riverbanks, increasing public awareness about environmental conservation, and transforming public participation into a broad-based people’s movement.
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta will personally lead the cleanliness drive at Thokar Number 14, Geeta Colony Ghat, where she will join thousands of citizens in voluntary service and strengthen the collective resolve for a clean, pristine and life-giving Yamuna.
Ministers of the Delhi government and other dignitaries will also participate in the campaign.
This special campaign will be conducted at Yamuna ghats from 6:00 am.
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said the protection and cleanliness of the Yamuna river are not only the responsibility of the government but also the duty of every citizen.
She said the campaign is being organised with the objective of taking this message to the people and encouraging collective participation.
The cleanliness of the Yamuna river is not a one-day programme but a continuous public movement that requires the participation of every section of society, she further said.
According to the Chief Minister, cleanliness and public awareness activities will be carried out simultaneously across various ghats, riverbanks and riverfront areas of the Yamuna river on June 14.
The campaign will be conducted simultaneously at several prominent locations, including Chilla Village Ghat, Nizamuddin Ghat, Thokar No. 14 Geeta Colony Ghat, Thokar No. 18 Gandhi Nagar Ghat, Purana Lohe Pul Ghat, Signature Bridge-Wazirabad Ghat (Eastern Bank), Dedh Pushta Ghat (Sonia Vihar), Chautha Pushta Ghat (Sonia Vihar), Kartavya Kunj Ghat (West Bank), Hathi Ghat near the ITO Old Railway Bridge, Ram Ghat, Kali Ghat, Shyam Ghat, Yamuna Bank, Yamuneshwar Ghat, Wazirabad Yamuna Biodiversity Park (Right Bank), Railway Bridge Yamuna Bank, ITO Downstream Western Bank-1, ITO Downstream Western Bank-2, ITO Upstream Right Bank, Sarai Kale Khan R/B, Thokar No. 13, Kunderiya Ghat, Nigam Bodh Ghat, Eastern Bank Downstream Wazirabad, and Kalindi Kunj Downstream (Eastern Bank), among other key locations.
Around 500 social, religious, educational and voluntary organisations, along with thousands of volunteers and Delhi residents, will participate in the mega campaign. To ensure broad public support and participation, Members of Parliament, senior public representatives and other distinguished personalities will also be present at different locations.
