The controversy surrounding educator Faisal Khan, popularly known as Khan Sir, has entered a new legal phase, with his counsel confirming that efforts are underway to secure anticipatory bail in connection with the recent firing incident outside his coaching institute in Patna.
The development comes as the police investigation expands, rival coaching groups trade allegations, and demands grow from some teachers and student leaders for Khan Sir’s arrest following the registration of an FIR in the case.

Bail move underway
Speaking about the legal proceedings, Khan Sir’s lawyer Arvind Kumar Mavvar said the process of seeking anticipatory bail has already been initiated. “Work is in progress… Everything depends on the law,” he said.
The bail move follows the naming of Khan Sir in a criminal case linked to the firing episode that took place outside his coaching institute earlier this month.
Defence claims attempt to frame Khan Sir
Arvind Kumar Mavvar alleged that the FIR against his client was filed as a counter-action after a complaint had already been lodged by staff members associated with Khan Sir’s institute.
“The FIR lodged against him is in retaliation because his staff had lodged a case against the Director (of Gyan Bindu GS Academy) on 2nd June. Guards had fired in the air for safety; no one was injured. But in the disclosure statement in the FIR, his name has been inserted. This is an attempt to frame him and defame him. We will file an anticipatory bail plea,” he said.
The lawyer maintained that the allegations are being used to tarnish Khan Sir’s reputation amid the ongoing dispute.
Firing incident under investigation
The case stems from an incident on June 2 when gunshots were reportedly fired outside the coaching institute.
According to police records, an FIR was registered at Kadamkuan Police Station under Section 109 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Sections 25(9), 27, and 35 of the Arms Act against three individuals, including Khan Sir.
The case was initiated after a video surfaced showing two security guards allegedly opening fire. Both guards were subsequently arrested.
Police said that during the investigation, a video was recovered showing two individuals allegedly engaging in aerial firing after an incident of vandalism.
Based on the examination of the footage, the two guards linked to the institute were taken into custody. Police later added Khan Sir and two others to the FIR under provisions related to abetment and the Arms Act.
Authorities have also seized the weapons allegedly used in the incident and sent them for forensic examination.
Pressure mounts from rival coaching group
The case has also triggered protests and political statements from individuals associated with Gyan Bindu GS Academy.
On Sunday, teachers and student representatives connected to the academy questioned why Khan Sir had not been arrested despite being named in the FIR, while their Director Raushan Anand was taken into custody earlier.
Varun, a teacher associated with the academy, said, “The administration acted very swiftly to arrest Raushan Anand Sir; why isn’t similar urgency being shown now, and why hasn’t Khan Sir been arrested? An FIR was registered on the 4th, and it is now the 7th; yet, despite the FIR, he continues to conduct his classes. Our demand is straightforward: Raushan Sir had no role in this matter, yet he has been arrested, whereas the person against whom the FIR was directly lodged is living freely–in fact, he is the one who should be arrested. If he is not arrested, we will go on a fast unto death. We also appeal to the court to grant bail to Raushan Sir as soon as possible and to order the administration to take action against the guilty.”
Student leader raises questions
Student leader Khushboo Pathak also criticised the pace of action in the case.
“The biggest question is–the one who was innocent, Raushan Anand sir, was arrested in just 12 hours, but the one who is a criminal and the elements of his crime are visible, and the police has written an FIR against him, is yet roaming freely, taking classes. How come stones were pelted, and bullets were fired in the class? To what extent is it right if he is teaching children? He (Khan Sir) is trying to instigate something against Gyan Bindu… So when will you see his language, how he insults women… The day the Chief Minister arrests him, we will thank the CM wholeheartedly,” she said.
Rival coaching dispute deepens
The controversy has unfolded against the backdrop of an ongoing dispute between coaching institutions in Patna.
Raushan Anand, Director of Gyan Bindu GS Academy, along with two associates, Abhishek and Gaurav, was sent to judicial custody by the Patna Civil Court on June 3.
Before being sent to custody, Anand alleged that a larger conspiracy was underway against his institution. “There is a conspiracy against us. After the success of the Bihar police exam results, they are trying to trap us. Kisan cold storage owners and Khan Sir together are attempting to ruin Gyan Bindu,” he claimed.
With Khan Sir now seeking legal protection from arrest and the police probe continuing, the case has evolved from a local coaching rivalry into a closely watched controversy in Bihar.
