Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce will marry at Madison Square Garden on July 3: Reports

The most famous couple on the planet is done keeping secrets. For a pair that met at a concert and got engaged in a flower garden, a New York City arena somehow makes perfect sense.

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are planning to exchange vows at Madison Square Garden over the July Fourth weekend, according to multiple reports published Friday.

According to a report from Page Six, the couple is likely to tie the knot at Madison Square Garden in New York City. “Everyone’s been sworn to secrecy,” a source told the outlet.

Neither Taylor nor Travis has publicly announced wedding plans or any event at Madison Square Garden. Representatives for both Swift and Kelce did not respond to requests for comment from multiple outlets.

The date and scale

Sources with direct knowledge told TMZ that between 1,100 and 1,200 people will show up at MSG on July 3 to watch the couple become husband and wife.

Taylor and Travis have gone to great lengths to ensure privacy, including communicating with invitees by text rather than physical invitations.

The guest list

The guest list for the wedding includes close friends of Swift such as Selena Gomez, Gigi Hadid, and the Haim sisters, as well as Kelce’s Kansas City Chiefs teammates and family members.

TMZ further reported that Benson Boone and Karlie Kloss are among those invited.

Swift reportedly prefers a more intimate wedding where she can recognise every guest, rather than having a large event with famous attendees for the sake of their celebrity status. “Taylor wants to look around the room and recognize every face,” a source told Rob Shuter’s Naughty But Nice Substack. “She doesn’t want people there simply because they’re famous.”

Why Madison Square Garden?

The advantage of MSG is that there are no windows from which photographers can shoot pictures of the event. There is also underground parking so guests can enter and exit without crowds converging on them.

Security plans involve the NYPD as well as private companies to create as much safe space as possible, and it appears that streets around MSG would be closed off.

The reported venue choice has surprised fans because Madison Square Garden is more commonly a place for sold-out concerts, championship sporting events, and major entertainment spectacles.

The Rhode Island venue that wasn’t

The MSG reports follow months of speculation about a different location entirely.

Reports of a Rhode Island venue had circulated for months, with Page Six earlier reporting the couple had eyed the Ocean House resort in Watch Hill. That location subsequently ruled out following statements from Rhode Island law enforcement and Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse, who told TMZ a New York wedding was more likely.

The engagement

The couple announced their engagement on August 26, 2025, via concurrent posts on Instagram. The caption read, “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married.” The post included five images showing the couple embracing in a floral setting, with a close-up shot of Swift’s ring, a dazzling cushion cut diamond with a gold band, and another showing Kelce bent on one knee.

The engagement post surpassed 1 million reposts in just six hours, more than any other post has garnered on Instagram, according to data from Meta.

Kelce’s father, Ed Kelce, told CNN affiliate WEWS that his son proposed to Swift nearly two weeks before the announcement at a garden in Lee’s Summit, Missouri. “They were about to go out to dinner and he said, ‘Let’s go out and have a glass of wine.’ They got out there and that’s when he asked her and it was beautiful,” the elder Kelce said.

How it started

The couple’s romance first sparked speculation in July 2023 when fans noticed Kelce attending one of Swift’s Eras Tour concerts. After the show, Kelce revealed on his New Heights podcast that he had hoped to give the singer a friendship bracelet with his phone number on it, though he never got the chance.

Kelce attended multiple Eras Tour shows throughout its two-year run, singing along to Swift’s songs and greeting her fans. During a London stop in 2024, he made a surprise appearance onstage during Swift’s performance of “I Can Do It With a Broken Heart.”
