As Prime Minister Narendra Modi prepares to overtake independent India’s first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru to become the longest serving head of the government in the country’s history on June 10, leaders from the ruling BJP and its NDA allies have lauded his tenure, crediting him for “taking the nation’s military, economy and foreign policy to greater heights”.
“People gave a historic mandate in 2014 by choosing a non-Congress party as an alternative, and also gave a full majority to the BJP to form the government at the Centre. In the last 12 years, under the leadership of the Prime Minister, several efforts have been made for the overall development of the country,” said Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat.

He further highlighted that when the world is reeling under the effects of the West Asia conflict, India’s GDP growth in Q4 of FY 2026 has been measured at 7.7 per cent.
“Twelve years ago, before the PM Modi-led BJP government at the Centre, people had lost faith in democracy,” he added.
Union Minister Piyush Goyal said that the Prime Minister is loved by 140 crore Indians and is the most popular leader in the world.
Goyal said that PM Modi is “a highly influential international statesman recognised across the globe”.
Referring to his previous tenure as Gujarat CM before taking oath as PM of India in 2014, Goyal further added that “the completion of his uninterrupted 25 years in public leadership will be a major milestone.”
“On that day, on a large scale across the country, all of us party workers will organise programs to reach out and engage with people,” he told reporters.
Bihar BJP President Sanjay Saraogi said that PM Modi is going to create history as the longest serving Prime Minister of the country.
“Under PM Modi’s leadership, India’s military and economic power, along with its foreign policy, is the strongest in the world,” he told IANS.
Echoing a similar view, Shiv Sena leader Manisha Kayande said: “It is a matter of pride for the country that someone has surpassed the records of Jawaharlal Nehru and Indira Gandhi. PM Narendra Modi’s dedication and consistency towards his work are remarkable.”
Praising Prime Minister Modi, Kayande mentioned: “He does not take a single day off and neither tires nor stops.”
According to Shiv Sena spokesperson Krishna Hegde, PM Modi has elevated India’s global stature and strengthened the country’s reputation worldwide.
“Today, India is recognised and trusted globally. India’s economy is going to be the third largest in the world, and much of this credit goes to Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” he told IANS.
JD-U spokesperson Rajeev Ranjan Prasad said: “It is a huge achievement in a country like India which has a population that speaks diverse languages and practises different religions.”
Prasad asserted that India has emerged as a global leader under PM Modi’s leadership. “I congratulate PM Modi on behalf of the whole country,” he said.
