In a major update in the Malviya Nagar fire tragedy, Max Super Speciality Hospital, Saket, on Wednesday said that a total of 39 patients were brought to its Emergency Department after the incident.
Out of them, 18 were brought dead, while 15 patients were admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). Among them, eight are on ventilator support and remain in critical condition.

The hospital added that the victims suffered from smoke inhalation, varying degrees of burn injuries and fractures sustained during the incident.

Five patients had minor injuries add were provided first aid and discharged after treatment, while a patient with extensive burn injuries was referred to Safdarjung Hospital for specialised care.
Among the deceased persons included both Indian and foreign nationals, the hospital noted.

Max Hospital said that after the incident it immediately activated its mass casualty response protocol and mobilised all available clinical and support resources to ensure timely treatment for those affected.
The fire broke out in a bed and breakfast hotel in south Delhi’s Malviya Nagar, killing at least 21 people. Several of those killed were foreigners, mainly from Central Asia and Africa, PTI quoted officials as saying.
