Allegations by Mansi’s family

According to the complaint filed by Mansi’s relatives, large amounts of cash, gifts, and household items were given during the wedding. Despite this, the family alleged that her in-laws continued demanding more money and expensive items after the marriage.

Relatives claimed Mansi was regularly humiliated and mentally harassed over the dowry issue. They further alleged that she also faced physical abuse whenever the demands were not met.

Family members said Mansi had informed them several times about the situation at her matrimonial home. They claimed repeated attempts were made to resolve tensions between the two families, with relatives travelling to Lucknow on multiple occasions to intervene.

Death triggers suspicion

Mansi’s family was informed about her death on Saturday.

While the incident was initially projected as a suicide, her relatives rejected that claim and alleged that she had been killed before the scene was staged to appear like a suicide case.

The allegations prompted police to launch a criminal investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death.

Six booked in dowry death case

Based on the family’s complaint, police registered a dowry death case against six people from her husband’s side.

Those named in the FIR include husband Sagar Rajput, father-in-law Rajesh, brother-in-law Anu, sisters-in-law Barkha and Chandni, and paternal aunt-in-law Asha.

Police officials said Sagar Rajput is being questioned as part of the investigation, while further inquiry is underway to determine the exact sequence of events leading to Mansi’s death.

Investigators are expected to examine forensic evidence, statements from relatives and digital communication records as part of the ongoing inquiry.
