During interrogation, Singh allegedly told investigators that Twisha had been under stress following an abortion, police said. Officials also claimed that when asked about the period during which he was absconding, he repeatedly attempted to mislead investigators.
Police further said Singh maintained his earlier claim that he had given Rs 7 lakh to Twisha.
As part of the investigation, the SIT has seized several items belonging to the accused, including his laptop, mobile phone, passport, Aadhaar card and other documents considered important to the case.
Meanwhile, the Supreme Court backed the CBI probe into the case and asked the agency to proceed expeditiously after hearing multiple legal matters linked to the case that were pending before different courts.
Speaking to ANI, advocate Ankur Pandey, appearing for the Sharma family, said the Madhya Pradesh government has challenged the anticipatory bail granted to Giribala Singh.
He added that Twisha’s father has separately moved court against the same anticipatory bail order on additional legal grounds.
According to Pandey, notice has already been served to Giribala Singh, and the matter is scheduled to come up for hearing before the Madhya Pradesh High Court on May 27 at 2:30 pm.
The High Court on Monday also fast-tracked proceedings linked to the case.
Twisha Sharma, a resident of Noida in Uttar Pradesh, had married Bhopal resident Samarth Singh in December 2025. She died on May 12.
Her family has alleged that she was subjected to dowry harassment and mental torture by her husband and his family before her death.
