However, after the Union government announced on 12 May that the NEET paper had been cancelled due to a paper leak, Akansha became extremely depressed and dejected, her family members said.

On 20 May, she committed suicide by hanging in Nagpur.

According to sources, a suicide note purportedly written by Akansha before taking the extreme step has recently come to light, revealing that she was deeply disappointed and had lost the mental strength to face the exam again.

In her suicide note, Akansha wrote, “Mom and Dad, you trusted that your daughter would study and become a doctor, but now I don’t have the courage to take the NEET exam again.”

In the note, she wrote that she had expected good marks in her first attempt, but no longer felt confident about performing well again, and apologised to her parents.

Akansha’s father, Krishna Kumar Chaturvedi, works as a cook in Nagpur. He has suffered three heart attacks in the past.
